All 10 teams will compete in the annual postseason tournament with the BIG EAST’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on the line. Conference newcomers Butler, Creighton and Xavier will battle with Chicago-based and preseason favorite DePaul, as well as longtime foes Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, St. John’s, Seton Hall and Villanova.
The conference slate has been an exciting one so far, with over half the teams scoring more than 70 points per game, including points leader DePaul, which is averaging closer to 90 per contest. Creighton is atop the BIG EAST standings with a 4-1 record heading into Wednesday’s games, while St. John’s and Marquette have caught fire, each winning four of their last five games.
