Fla. - The Creighton women's tennis team fell 6-1 to South Carolina State
in a neutral-site match in suburban Orlando Monday.
Junior Analese Snyder claimed the only point of the match
for Creighton (3-7) at No. 2 singles. South Carolina State (7-3) jumped out to
an early lead by winning the doubles point.
Snyder and senior Anna Kirshenbaum dropped an 8-3
decision to SCSU's Maria Craciun and Klara Dohnalova at No. 1 doubles. The
Creighton tandem of sophomore Jennie Hartjes and freshman Sam Anderson blanked Nataliya
Dyatlova and Irina Cvijovic of South Carolina State on court two. The Bulldog
duo of Victoria Khatcei and Laura Bosneag took down the CU sophomore pairing of
Liz Vermillion and Amanda Noonan.
All of the singles results were decided in straight sets.
Snyder claimed the lone point for the Bluejays on court
two with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Dyatlova. On court one Hartjes fell 6-3, 6-4 to
Craciun. Kirshenbaum went extra games in a set one loss to Dohnalova at 7-5
before dropping set two 6-2.
On court four SCSU's Khatcei got the better of Noonan in
a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Anderson rebounded from a 6-0 first-set loss with a 7-5
setback in set two to Bosneag on court five. Vermillion dropped a pair of 6-4
sets to Cvijovic on court 6.
Creighton returns to action Tuesday with two neutral-site
matches against Saint Ambrose and Robert Morris in Orlando, Fla.
