Scouting the Bulldogs (9-17, 4-11 MVC)
Drake is coming off a road win at Northern Iowa led by 23 points from sophomore Kyndal Clark.  The Missouri native captured the MVC Player of the week honor with a combined 45 points versus Bradley and Northern Iowa last week.

The Bulldogs like to push the pace and did just that in the first meeting with Creighton.  As a unit the Bulldogs have committed 470 turnovers in 26 contests (18.1 per game) and have forced 435 by their opponents (16.7 tpg).

The production  of junior Morgan Reid and freshman Ashley Bartow on the glass play a significant roll for the Bulldogs.  This duo averages 12.7 rebounds per game in MVC play this season.

Keys to the Game w/Drake:

  • Controlling Tempo: Drake wants to play at a frantic pace.  While the Jays showed an ability to play fast, Creighton is a more efficient half-court team than the Bulldogs and would be better suited to slow the game a bit.
  • Shot Selection: The two teams shot 66% (Creighton) and 45% (Drake) from the field in the first meeting.  Expect the defenses for each teams to play much better, placing an emphasis on shot selection and offensive execution.
  • Inside-Out Game:  Creighton has placed an emphasis on post-production over the past four games.  The result has been 102 points in the paint.  Creighton has also drained 40 three-pointers, raising their nation leading average to 10.0 per game.

Flanery against the Bulldogs
Coach Flanery has faced Drake 26 times as a head coach, holding a 13-13 mark against the Bulldogs. Flanery is 6-4 versus Drake in Omaha.

Tritz becomes 24th Member of 1K club
Junior Carli Tritz’s second trifecta against Northern Iowa vaulted her over the 1,000 point threshold in just her 88th game as a Jay.  Tritz became just the 24th Creighton player to reach the century mark.  Tritz tied Kelsey Woodard (2007-11) as the 12th fastest to reach the feat in Creighton history as Woodard also did it in her 88th game.

Flanery Led Jays Reach 20-wins for Seventh Time
The Bluejays reached the 20-win plateau for the seventh time under head coach Jim Flanery and the 15th time in program history with the win at Bradley on Saturday, Feb. 23.  It is the first time that Flanery had led a squad to 20 wins before March and the third fastest time in school history.  The 1991-92 team reached 20 wins on Feb. 20, while the 1990-91 squad did it on Feb. 21.
Kamphaus Claims Paint
Junior Alyssa Kamphaus reached career-highs with 17 points, four blocks and eight field goals in the Jays’ 83-65 win at Bradley.  Kamphaus scored the first nine points of the game for Creighton on layups and a three-point play, then teamed with fellow junior Sarah Nelson to lead the Bluejays on an 11-3 run to open the second half.

Five Jays Reach Double-Figures for First Time since 2010
Creighton’s 83-65 win over Bradley on Feb. 23 saw the five Jays reach double-figures in the same game for the first time since 2010.  Led by 18 from Sarah Nelson, Creighton also got 17 points by Alyssa Kamphaus, 15 from Ally Jensen, 11 from Jordan Garrison and 10 by Marissa Janning.  Two of the quintet were also part of the last time it happened on Dec. 20, 2010 (Kelsey Woodard 19, Sam Schuett 16, Ally Jensen 14, Sarah Nelson 12 & Kellie Nelson 12).
