CONWAY, Ark. - The Creighton softball team dominated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 16-2 in five innings at the Central Arkansas Tournament Saturday.

Fifteen Bluejays saw action in the shortened game. The 16 runs scored by CU are the most since a 19-4 defeat of Howard last March 4.

Creighton (4-4) compiled 13 hits on the day. Four players notched multiple hits including junior Ellen Homan, classmate Blair Lowe, senior Amy Baker and freshman Kelsey Allender. Baker throttled her fifth home run of the season towering over the center field fence, marking her third consecutive game with a homer. Sophomore Bri Lingl made her hit count with a rocket off the bat that sailed far beyond the left field fence.

Baker's three-game home run streak gives her a career total of 46. She is now just four shy of tying the CU all-time record and six short of MVC all-time mark.

Junior Alexis Cantu started in the circle for Creighton and earned the win to even her record at 1-1.  Cantu scored a run and collected an RBI despite not getting a hit because of being pelted by a UAPB (0-5) pitch on three separate occasions. Senior Sammy Snygg came on in relief of Cantu in the fourth inning. Each pitcher gave up an earned run and recorded three strikeouts apiece.

Homan opened the game with a single. Two batters later Baker drew a walk and Cantu reached after being hit by a pitch to load the bases. Homan later scored on a wild pitch before UAPB got out of the top of the first down 1-0.

Cantu and the Jays' defense retired the Lady Lions in order to end the first frame.

Creighton exploded for eight runs in the top of the second inning. Allender opened the second with a single. After sophomore Liz Dike drew a walk, Homan loaded the bases with one out to load the bases. Lowe hit a two-RBI single through the right side to put CU up 3-0.

Baker followed with a single to score Homan. Another hit-by-pitch placed Cantu at first to load the bases. Freshman Blake Ringle came through with a double, her first career hit, to clear the bases. Next up, Lingl blasted her homer to bring in Ringle and push the Bluejays' lead to 9-0.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff got on the board in the bottom of the third. After a walk and an RBI single, the Lady Lions trailed 9-1 after three.

In the Creighton fourth, Baker hammered a homer to deep center field to make it a 10-1 Bluejay advantage. Lingl later reached base on an error. Next up freshman Kim Jacobson registered a double for her first career hit and RBI to bring Lingl in to put Creighton by 10.

The Bluejays added five more runs in the fifth. Freshman Erin McGonigal reached on an error. Lowe later singled up the middle with one out. Baker loaded the bases on another UAPB error. Cantu was hit in the batter's box a third time but earned an RBI to put CU up by 11.

Senior Ashley Frutos connected on a single to score Lowe and give the Jays a 13-1 lead. Allender ripped another single with two outs on the board to score Baker. Freshman Katie Pascuzzi record her first career hit with a two-RBI single to put Creighton up 16-1.

The Lady Lions added one in the bottom of the fifth. After a triple to open the frame, a one-out single brought the UAPB run across the plate.

Creighton concludes the UCA Tournament with a single game against Grambling State on Sunday at 9 a.m.
