OMAHA, Neb. - The Jays women's basketball squad drained 14 three-pointers as Creighton slipped past Bradley, 79-67, on Sunday, Jan. 27.

The win lifted Creighton to 15-4 on the season and 7-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Bradley fell to 7-11 overall and 1-6 in MVC action.

The opening period was a seesaw battle as Creighton led 15-10, but Bradley responded with a 20-10 run to claim a 27-22 edge with 6:14 showing on the clock. 

Down 32-25 moments later, Creighton responded, as the nation's leading three-point shooting team should, with an 18-1 run including four trifectas. 

Junior McKenzie Fujan and senior Ally Jensen started the charge with back-to-back three-pointers to make it 32-31.  Following a Bradley miss, Fujan knocked down a 12-foot jumper to give Creighton a 33-32 lead. After the Braves' Kelsey Budd hit one of two free throws to tie the game, freshman Marissa Janning hit a jumper at the elbow, followed by consecutive treys from sophomore Sammy Jensen to push the Jays lead to eight at 41-33.  Finally Fujan capped the run with her seventh points of the stretch, to give Creighton a 43-33 lead with under a minute remaining in the first half.  

Bradley scored the final four points of the period to send the game to halftime with Creighton holding a 43-37 edge.

Creighton finished the first half 8-of-15 from beyond the arc (.533), while Bradley was 4-of-8 (.500) themselves.

Creighton opened the second half just as they closed the first period, connecting from downtown.  A. Jensen opened the half with her third triple of the game, after a bucket by Bradley's Shronda Butts, junior Carli Tritz got in the three-point barrage to make it 51-38 Jays.  A backdoor layup from Fujan pushed the Bluejays lead to its largest margin of 13 (53-38) with 17:56 left. 

Bradley would close to within five (58-53) with just under 10 minutes remaining, but the Bluejay trio of Tritz, Janning and junior Sarah Nelson held the Bradley at bay.  Nelson scored five of her seven points in the final ten minutes, while Tritz had six of her nine down the stretch.

Janning led all scorers with 21 points, including five in the final 10 minutes. Fujan and A. Jensen both posted 12 points.

Bradley got 13 points from Catie O'Leary to lead the Braves, while Michelle Young and Brooke Bisping each chipped in 12.

The Jays finished the game 14-of-26 (.538) from long distance.

Creighton returns to the court on Saturday, Feb. 2 as the Bluejays will face Drake in Des Moines, Iowa at 3 p.m.
