OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- The Creighton men’s golf team finished 14th at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate on Tuesday. The 14-team event took place at the par-72 7,054 yard Milburn Golf and Country Club in the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park, Kan.
The Jays finished with a team score of 915. Host UMKC finished first with an 870. North Dakota State (872) finished second and Arkansas State (881) third. Arkansas State’s Easton Key finished first shooting a 210.
The Jays were led by Daniel McKernan. The junior finished tied for 35th shooting a 226. McKernan opened the tournament on fire, firing birdies on six of his first 10 holes to lead the tournament early on. He would shoot a two-under 70 in the opening round, followed by rounds of 73 and 83.
Johnny Spellerberg was the second to finish for the Jays. The sophomore finished tied for 57th with a 230. Senior John Rasmussen finished tied for 62nd shooting a 231.
Freshman Steffen Lake (T-68th 232) and Junior Trey Turley (74th, 239) also competed for the Jays.
The Bluejays have completed their fall schedule and will return in the spring.
