OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men’s golf team bested Drake in a dual at the par-71 6,801 yard Omaha Country Club on Wednesday.
The Jays finished with a team score of 298 while Drake scored a 301.
Senior Ben Lowman led the Jays shooting a 73, to share medalist honors. Junior Trey Turley
finished second for the Jays and third overall with a 74. Fellow junior Dan McKernan
rounded out the top three with a 75. Other Jay performers were sophomore John Spellerberg (76), junior Collin Craft (81), and freshman Jack Stimple (83).
"I thought we did OK," said Creighton head coach Chris Wiemers. "We
still have a long ways to go. We showed a lot of resolve from several
players who got off to a rocky start but they held it together and
finished strong. If it hadn't been for that, we definitely wouldn't have
pulled this one out today."
Devin Leland was the top golfer for the Bulldogs shooting a 73 to tie Lowman for the day's low score.
The Jays are in action again Oct.1-2 at the Jim Colbert Invitational in Manhattan, Kan.
