LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Creighton women finished 12th and the men 14th at the 23rd annual Woody Greeno/Nebraska Invitational on Saturday morning. There were more than 50 teams and over 500 runners competing in the invitational.

Air Force (47) won the women’s team competition. South Dakota (88) came in second and Kansas State (118) finished third. The Colorado School of Mines (41) won the men’s title. Air Force (58) finished second and South Dakota (95) came in third.

As for the individual winners, Laura Galvan of Kansas State came in first with a time of 21:10. The Colorado School of Mines’ Sean Gildea was the top runner on the men’s side with a time of 24.45.

Individually for the Jays, Courtney Sawle was the top runner. The sophomore finished 25th overall with a time of 22:51.  Fellow sophomore Meghan Barry’s time of 23:55 was good enough for 71st place. Freshman Emily Mauser finished 89th with a 24:11 time.  Freshman Emily Peterson (91st, 24:14) and junior Meagan Wilderson (94th, 24:17) also completed the 6K course.

For the men, Garrett Kenyon led the Bluejays. The freshman finished the 8K course 89th overall with a time of 27:05. Sophomore Drew Prescott’s time of 27:17 was enough for 101st overall. Mike Hitt finished third for the Jays. The senior had a time of 27:43 and a 133rd place finish. Sophomore Steve Raimondi (159th, 28:05) and senior Tom Shimp (160th, 28:06) rounded out the top five.

The Jays compete again next Saturday Sept. 22 at the Saluki Invitational in Carbondale Ill.
