Curtis Self joined the Creighton Athletic Training Staff in February of 2008 providing athletic training services to the Bluejay baseball team. He also serves as the Insurance Coordinator for the athletic training department. In addition to his duties with baseball and insurance he also oversees the graduate assistant working with the softball team. Along with his duties at Creighton, he also serves as the medical coordinator for the Men's College World Series.

Self comes to Creighton University after serving as associate athletic trainer at the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC for six years. While at Charleston he was the facility coordinator of the Patriots Point Athletic Training room with sport assignments to the baseball and women's tennis teams.

Prior to his stint at the College of Charleston, Self served as an athletic trainer for the Texas Rangers Minor League Baseball Club for two seasons. While with the Texas Rangers he was responsible for the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation associated with the rookie classification Gulf Coast Rangers.

During his stint with the Rangers, Self was also a graduate assistant at Western Michigan University where he earned his Master of Arts degree in Physical Education and Recreation with an Athletic Training emphasis in 2002.

During the spring of 2000 Self interned with the Atlanta Braves' minor league system during spring training in Orlando, FL and that summer he served as an athletic trainer for the USTA Boy's Junior National Tennis Championship held in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Self graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education and Athletic Training in May 2000. While an athletic training student at Coe College he was also a member of the men's swimming team.

Curtis is originally from Grand Island, Nebraska but now resides in Omaha, NE. He is a certified athletic trainer and has been a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association since 1998. He is also an approved clinical instructor through CAAHEP as well as CPR and AED certified.
