OMAHA, Neb. – Former student-athlete and Director
of Sales Mark Burgers is returning to Creighton as the school’s
Associate Athletics Director. Burgers, currently the Associate
Athletics Director for External Affairs at South Dakota State, will
start his new position on September 28th.
Upon his arrival, Burgers will help with administrative duties and donor relations among other responsibilities.
At
SDSU, Burgers has managed the areas of marketing, promotions,
ticketing, sports information, annual giving and special events. He
also supervises women’s soccer, wrestling, men’s and women’s golf,
men’s and women’s tennis and softball.
Burgers was a
student-athlete in Creighton’s men’s golf program as an undergrad from
1999-2003. Upon graduating, he accepted a full-time position within
Creighton’s Athletic Marketing Department, working his way up to
Director of Sales before leaving in April of 2008.
“While we had
many outstanding candidates for this position, we felt that Mark was
the best candidate based upon our needs and his experience -- not only
at South Dakota State, but also at Creighton,” said Director of
Athletics Bruce Rasmussen. “We are excited to bring Mark back to
Creighton to assist us in all areas of athletics, but especially in the
areas of customer relations, administration and marketing.”
