Soccer Teams Earn NSCAA Team Academic Award

OMAHA, Neb. - Both the Creighton men's and women's soccer teams have earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's (NSCAA) Team Academic Award, an honor annually given to teams which compile a team grade point average of at least 3.0.  Creighton was one of 98 schools (all levels) to have both teams earn the award.

The men's team, coached by Bob Warming, owned a 3.10 GPA in the grading period for the award.  The women's squad, coached by Bruce Erickson, posted a 3.38 GPA in the same period.  Fourteen men's soccer players owned a 3.0 GPA or better in the spring 2009 semester, while the women's team had 20 student-athlete with at least a 3.0 GPA this past spring.

As a department, Creighton's student-athletes combined for a 3.30 GPA last spring, while Bluejay student-athletes own a 3.32 cumulative GPA - tying the school's best mark ever.  The soccer teams have helped Creighton win the Missouri Valley Conference All-Academic Award four times in the last five years.
