PEORIA, Ill. - Although the tenth-ranked Creighton Bluejays (11-3-0, 5-2-0) outshot Bradley, 16-15, the Braves held a 7-5 edge in shots on goal and were able to pull out a 4-1 victory on their home field today.

Three of the top five individual scorers in the Missouri Valley Conference play for the Braves (11-3-2, 4-2-1), and they did not disappoint in front of 760 fans in Peoria, Ill. Gavin Glinton, Hamid Mehreioskouei and Bryan Namoff each continued their season-long scoring frenzies as they all contributed at least one goal to the Bradley cause.

Glinton, a two-time All-American, followed up a deflected shot to find the net at 25:53 and put the Braves up, 1-0. Mehreioskouei then started a Bradley two-goal rampage when he scored on another Mike Gabb (Omaha, Neb./Burke) deflection at 49:23. Namoff added his first of two goals when he connected on a Glinton pass at 55:34 from the right side of the penalty area into the low left corner.

Brian Mullan (Littleton, Colo./Regis Jesuit) brought the Bluejays back to within two when Mike Tranchilla (Barnhart, Mo./St. Pius X) sent him a pass which he knocked in from eight yards out.

But Bradley proved too much for the Bluejays when Namoff scored on another Glinton helper to finish off a Bradley free kick.

"Our entire team is very disappointed with the result today," Creighton head coach Bret Simon said. "Most of our players had good games. We played against a team that was emotionally at a very high level and extremely prepared for whatever we could throw at them. They are to be commended for capitalizing on virtually every mistake we made. We'll come out of this game needing to regroup and get a good result against a dangerous Eastern Illinois team (on Sunday). That will be our primary focus in the next 36 hours -- to clean up our mistakes and put this game behind us."

Creighton's Gabb collected three saves for the Bluejays in 90 minutes of work, while Adam Gross recorded four saves for BU. The Bluejays took three corner kicks while Bradley attempted none.

Mullan's goal was his ninth of the season, tying him with Tranchilla for team-leading honors. Tranchilla's pass tied him with Mullan for a team-best five assists on the season. Mullan is now tied for fifth place on the all-time CU charts with Brian Kamler (1990-93) with 24 career assists. He has also moved up in the all-time CU record books with 78 career points, good enough to tie John Probst (1980-83) for sixth place. He needs just three more points to tie Ray Nikodem (1980-83) for fifth place.

Creighton ends its four-game road swing with a 1 p.m. match at Eastern Illinois on Sunday. The Bluejays return home next weekend for their final homestand of the 2000 regular season. Creighton will play host to third-ranked SMU on Friday night (Oct. 27) and TCU on Sunday (Oct. 29).
