OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton freshman P'Allen Stinnett has been named the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week. This marks the fifth time in nine weeks this year that a Bluejay newcomer has been recognized, and it is Stinnett’s second accolade (also Nov. 12, 2007).

Stinnett averaged a team-high 11.5 points per game last week as Creighton split road games at Indiana State and Missouri State.

He battled foul trouble in Creighton's eight-point loss to league-leading Indiana State on Wednesday, finishing with just five points before fouling out in 15 minutes of action.

Against Missouri State, Stinnett led all players with 18 points, including the game-winning free throw with 56.9 seconds left and the score tied at 49-all. Stinnett would score six of CU's final 10 points, all at the line, while also contributing three rebounds and two steals in 26 minutes of action.

Stinnett ranks second on the team with 11.4 points and 1.8 steals per game this season. His 148 points in his first 13 games are the most by a Bluejay newcomer since Nate King in 1993-94.

Creighton returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Evansville at 7:05 pm. The game will be televised on NET-1 and NET-HD, and can be heard on KXSP (Big Sports 590 AM).
