Kansas on April 16 and host Southern Illinois in a three-game set from April 19-21.  All four games will be played at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha.

Jays vs. Indiana State
Creighton leads the overall series with Indiana State, 73-52.  The Jays have taken five of the last seven meetings, including a series sweep of the Sycamores in Terre Haute in 2011.  Coach Servais holds a 25-8 mark against Indiana State.

A look at Indiana State (14-13, 4-5)
The Sycamores opened Missouri Valley Conference play with a sweep of Southern Illinois at home, but dropped five of six on the road at Missouri State and Wichita State.

The anchor of Indiana State has been junior left-hander Sean Manaea (4-2, 0.99 ERA).  Manaea’s numbers this season show why he is among those players being discussed as the overall number one pick this June (55 Ks in 45.1 innings).  He has allowed just seven runs (five earned) in seven starts this season. One concern however, may be Manaea’s health.  Manaea was pushed back from his normal Friday start to Sunday last weekend due to a hip injury.  On Sunday against Wichita he showed no effects of the injury, shutting out the Shockers over six innings and recording nine strikeouts.

Following Manaea, Indiana State is expected to use right-handers Devin Moore and Daniel Peterson.  The duo has a combined 3-4 mark with a 2.85 and 4.81 ERA respectively.  One constant for the Sycamore pitching staff is good control.  Indiana State has 204 strikeouts and just 93 walks in 240 innings this season.

Offensively the Sycamores have struggled through the first 27 games, posting a team average of .238.  Senior Koby Kraemer leads the team in hitting (.305), while sophomore Landon Curry provides ample speed at the top of the order with 12 stolen bases.  Senior Robby Ort is the Sycamores most potent power threat with eight extra-base hits and 18 RBI.

Jays Climb to No. 30 in Collegiate Baseball Poll
Creighton, which leads the Valley with an overall record of 18-6 (5-1 MVC) has entered the polls for the first time this season, coming in at No. 30 in the latest (Apr. 8) Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll.  The last time the Jays were ranked came on May 30, 2011 (ranked 25 entering NCAA Regionals).

Jays Rank 29th Nationally in Attendance
Creighton Baseball continued to rank among the top teams nationally in attendance with a combined 19,093 fans in nine games (2,121 per game).  LSU leads the nation with 258,005 fans at 24 games (10,750 per game).

Castagnini Becomes Fourth Jay to Claim MVC Player of the Week Honor
Junior Federico Castagnini became the fourth differing Jay to earn the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week nod on Monday, April 8.  Returning to the field from an injury on Friday that had kept him out for four games, Federico was instrumental in the Jays sweep of Bradley.  The two-hole hitter for Creighton, Castagnini led Creighton with a .545 average (6-for-11) with four runs scored and two RBI in the series.  He provided the decisive RBI in the Jays’ win on Friday (5-4), ripping a single past first base in the seventh inning. He closed the week with a .643 on-base percentage and a .545 slugging %.

Earlier this season, fresham Reagan Fowler (March 25), sophomore Jake Peter (March 18) and senior Alex Staehely (Feb. 18) claimed the conference nod.
