2013  CREIGHTON  WINTER  SOFTBALL CAMPS

CAMP OVERVIEW

The Creighton Softball coaching staff would like to invite you to our 2013 Winter Softball Camps. These camps provide an opportunity for players of all ages to learn and develop their skills under the personal attention of the Bluejay Softball Staff.  Fundamentals will be emphasized through individual and group instruction combined with drill work to help each player become the best she can be. 

 Ages 8-13

Junior Jays Hitting Camp                        $50
December 29th       9:00 – 11:30 a.m.

Instruction will focus on teaching players the proper swing mechanics to promote bat speed and consistency at the plate.  Each player will go through a variety of supervised hitting stations to reinforce concepts being taught.   Campers should provide their own helmet and bat.
*Location:  Kitty Gaughan Pavilion

Junior Jays Fundamental Camp              $50
December 29th     1:00-3:30 p.m.

Camp includes proper method of warm-up with strong emphasis on throwing and receiving fundamentals.  Fielding mechanics, and base running will all be addressed through extensive drill work.
*Location:  Rasmussen Center

Junior Jays Pitching Camp                      $50 
December 30th       9:00-11:30 a.m.

 Instruction will focus on teaching proper method of warm-up and stretch mechanics as well as emphasis on correct delivery and pitching grips.  Pitching stations will offer participants the opportunity to improve upon newly acquired skills and information. Campers are required to provide their own catcher.

Ages 14 & up

Senior Jays Hitting 1- Fundamentals                    $50
December 27th          9:00 – 11:30 a.m.

Instruction will focus on the proper swing mechanics to promote increased bat speed and consistency at the plate.  Each player will go through a variety of supervised hitting stations to reinforce concepts being taught.  Campers should provide their own helmet and bat.

Senior Jays Hitting 2-Slapping/Short Game $50
December 27th      1:00 - 3:30 p.m.

Camp includes right and left hand slapping and short game fundamentals.  Situational bunting including sacrifice, surprise, triple bunt, and squeeze, and slapping will be taught through drill work, machine work, and live arm.  Campers should provide their own helmet and bat.

Senior Jays Defense 1- Fundamentals    $50 
December 28th       9:00 – 11:30 a.m. 

Camp includes proper method of warm-up with strong emphasis on throwing and receiving fundamentals.  Fielding mechanics and base running will all be addressed through extensive and more challenging drill work.
*Location:  Rasmussen Center

Senior Jays Defense 2- Positional Play   $50
December 28th       1:00 - 3:30 p.m.

Instruction will focus on positional specific techniques.  Players will be divided so outfield, infield corner & middle, pitcher, and catcher mechanics can be addressed.  In addition, situational instruction will be incorporated.

Senior Jays Pitching Camp                                  $50 
December 30th      9:00-11:30 a.m.

Instruction will focus on teaching proper method of warm-up and stretch mechanics as well as emphasis on correct delivery and pitching grips.  Specific pitches will be addressed individually.  Additionally, the mental aspects of pitching will be specifically addressed for this age group. Campers are required to provide their own catcher.

General Information

FACILITIES: Creighton’s indoor hitting facility located in the Kitty Gaughan Pavilion adjacent to the baseball and softball fields located on 22nd and Burt will be the site for all hitting camps. The Rasmussen Center located on 18th and Burt St. will be the location for the Jr Jays and Senior Jays Defensive clinics as well as the Pitching Clinic. Lunch will NOT be provided; however, campers can bring their lunch and dine in these facilities in between camps.

EQUIPMENT: Campers should bring their own bat  and helmet for the hitting camps, and glove for the fundamental and pitching camps along with comfortable workout attire. All pitchers must provide their own catcher for the pitching clinics. You can wear tennis shoes in all of our indoor facilities and cleats are allowed in the Rasmussen Center. 

HEALTH CARE: All campers must carry their own insurance. Creighton Softball Camp and Creighton University cannot be responsible for injuries sustained at the camp.

REGISTRATION: All campers must have a registration and parental consent form on file prior to participating.  Registration will take place in the Kitty Gaughan Pavilion for hitting camps and at the Rasmussen Center for defensive and pitching camps.

Each camper will receive a Creighton Softball T-shirt! (one shirt per camper for the week)

** Creighton Softball Camps are open to any and all entrants, limited only by number, age, grade level, and/or gender.

REFUND POLICY: Notification must be received at least 1 week prior to the first day of camp for 100% refund of the camp registration. A 50% refund will be given for notification received between December 20th-26th. Notification December 27th or after will not be refunded.

17th Annual Softball Team Camp
August 5-9, 2013

Please note that any player interested in attending camp should contact their high school coach, and all individual registrations will go through the high school coach to be turned in at the coaches meeting prior to the start of camp.

Camp Overview

1.  Your team will play at least six regularly scheduled games.

2.  All games will be played with a 1 hour and 15 minute timelimit or 7 innings, whichever comes first.

3.  Each game will have A.S.A. sanctioned umpires.

4.  Sessions will begin at 8:30 a.m. every day.The complete schedule will be given to the coach at the pre-camp meeting.

5.  You will have the opportunity to evaluate all of your players in game situations in a relaxed environment.

6.  Each high school may only bring one squad.

7.  An All-Star game will conclude in the evening of the last day.The players are nominated by their coaches.

 

To Enroll In Team Camp   -   $60/per player

Each coach must first call and reserve a spot in the camp for your team. To ensure that all of your players are eligible to participate in the team camp, coaches are required to collect your players’ applications and send them in together. 

A minimum deposit of $200 is required to guarantee your team a spot in the 2013 Bluejay Softball Team Camp. Check-in will take place at the mandatory coaches meeting on August 4th.  Checks should be made out to Creighton Softball Camp. 

All applications and registration forms should be collected and turned in together at the Coaches Meeting on August 4th .

General Information

FACILITIES: The CU Sports Complex on the corner of 23rd & Burt Streets will serve as the home site to this year’s team camp.  The indoor hitting facility will be available for pre-game batting practice.

ELIGIBILITY: Each team must be accompanied by an adult serving as a coach. If you do not have an adult to act as coach, one of the CU players will be available to coach. Each team must be composed of at least 10 players. At no time may a H.S. coach be allowed in the batting cages, on the field, or in the dugouts.

HEALTH CARE:All campers must carry their own insurance. Bluejay Softball Camp and Creighton University cannot be responsible for injuries sustained at camp. All campers must have a signed parental consent form on file in order to participate in camp. This rule will be strictly enforced.

REGISTRATION: Check in will take place at the coaches meeting on August 4th held in the Kitty Gaughan Pavilion at 6:00 pm on Creighton’s campus. At this time, final payment and all registration forms are due. You need to give your completed form to your coach and he or she will turn them in together on August 4th.
