Eric Wordekemper
Undergraduate Assistant Coach

Wordekemper makes his return to the Bluejays as an undergraduate assistant coach this season as he rehabilitates from Tommy John surgery. A nine-year veteran in pro ball, Wordekemper intends to return to the professional ranks next season.

During his three seasons as a Bluejay, Wordkemper posted a combined 14-8 record over 173.1 innings. His best season came in 2005 as he posted a flawless 6-0 record in 43.1 innings. That season Wordekemper started 10 games, allowing just five walks and recording 36 strikeouts.

Eric was drafted by the New York Yankees following the 2005 season, pitching at the A, AA & AAA levels for the Bronx Bombers. Wordekemper pitched at the AAA level for the Yankees in 2006 (Columbus) as well as 2009-11 (Scranton/Wilkes-Barre).

Over his nine-year career Eric amassed a combined 22-13 record, tossing 418.1 in 276 appearances (264 out of the bullpen). Wordekemper has a combined 1.27 WHIP in his career, recording 331 strikouts and allowing just 140 walks.

Servais on Wordekemper:
“What a pleasure to have Eric back with us, he was a part of one of the best teams we had in 2005. We won 48 games that year and he was a dominant pitcher for three seasons. He was here when I was cutting my teeth with this head coaching business, now he’s here and sees the program so much further along. When his playing days are done, he has a great future in the coaching field. He’s going to work with the pitchers in the bullpen, that is what he did at the next level, so he can help the guys prepare. Anyone who has seen us play, knows we like to use our bullpen and Eric is going to have a significant impact in that regard.”
