ORLANDO, Fla. - The Creighton women's tennis team won their third straight match and remain undefeated in Orlando, defeating St. Joseph 5-2 on Wednesday. The Bluejays again won the doubles point, taking a 1-0 lead into singles play and won four of the six singles matches.
Mary McMullan and Kelsey Schmidt defeated Devi Jadeja and Tara Walsh 8-3 at the No. 2 doubles to start play, followed by a win at No. 3 doubles by Amanda Noonan and Elizabeth Vermillion to secure the doubles point. The freshman duo defeated Kate Dowd and Jenna Procyk 8-3. Creighton's lone setback in doubles play was Casey Robinson and Aurora Davis defeating Jennie Hartjes and Analese Snyder 8-7 at the No. 1 doubles.
Four singles players won their matches, leading to the 5-2 advantage for the Jays. Schmidt defeated Devi Jadeja 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 singles followed by McMullan downing Laura Matz 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 4 spot. Taylor Koehrsen defeated Lauren Roy 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 5 spot before Vermillion downed Kelly Mulquin 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 6 singles.
The Hawks won their two points at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, as Casey Robinson defeated Hartjes 6-3, 6-2 and Aurora Davis downed Snyder 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.
