OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton women's tennis doubles team of Mary McMullan and Kelsey Schmidt were ranked eighth in the Central Region of the year-ending June 8th rankings by the tennis website ITAtennis.com.
McMullan and Schmidt, who will both be seniors in the fall, went 14-3 while playing primarily at No. 2 doubles for Creighton this past season.
"Mary and Kelsey had a great spring playing doubles together," said Creighton head coach Tom Lilly. "Although a few injuries and illnesses kept them from playing every match together they were able to compete against everyone they played against and beat some very good teams along the way. They will both be seniors next year so this is something that they can possibly build on if we are able to keep them together next season."
There are 29 schools in the Central Region from 11 different conferences, including six MVC schools and seven Big 12 teams. Creighton was the only MVC school represented in the Central Region doubles rankings.
