Men's Tennis Has Three-Match Win Streak Snapped at Oklahoma State
STILLWATER, Okla. - The Creighton men's tennis team saw its three-match win streak snapped on Sunday, falling 6-1 to Oklahoma State. For just the third time this season, the Jays dropped the doubles point and just one singles player was victorious for the 8-4 Bluejays.
The Cowboys took all three doubles matches, earning the single point going into singles play. Christopher Haworth and Eric West earned the first win, defeating Ryan Norman and Sean Mathison 8-2 at the No. 2 doubles. OSU's Brandon Champagne and Trevor Horstmann then downed Elliott Baker and Kyle Obermeier in the No. 3 doubles. Closing out doubles play, Rifat Biktyakov and Vlad Bondarenko defeated Billy Paluch and J.T. Christian 8-6 in the No. 1 spot.
Gabe Nagy was the lone Bluejay to come out victorious in singles play, defeating Champagne 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 6 singles. The rest of singles play belonged to the Cowboys, who won in straight sets in the other five singles spots. West defeated Norman 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 4 singles before Biktyakov downed Christian 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 2 singles.
Nagy's win at No. 6 was followed by Haworth's 6-2, 6-2 win over Obermeier at the No. 3 singles. Bondarenko defeated Paluch 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and Horstmann closed out play with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Mathison.
The Bluejays will be back in action Saturday, March 31, when they travel to Des Moines, Iowa, to take on Drake in a Missouri Valley Conference match.
