This is Joy Dobrauc’s 11th year coaching the women’s rowing team. The Pittsburg, Kan., native began her rowing career in 1998 as a Bluejay, rowing all four years. She ended her undergraduate stint in May of 2002 and began her coaching later that Fall.

In her first season at Creighton, Dobrauc coached the first novice eight to a near perfect season, winning seven races and earning a third place finish at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia. Her novice crews have continued to find success while capturing two of the top five spots at the Head of the Iowa Regatta in the fall of 2003, third place in the Novice Four at the Head of the Rock in 2004, and placing sixth in the Eight at the Dad Vail Regatta, the largest collegiate regatta in the country. Since then her boats have been successful at various regattas and in multiple boats.

As a rower, Dobrauc’s novice boats medaled over a dozen times, taking home the gold at the Midwest Sprints in the Women’s Open Four in Madison, Wisconsin. Her senior year she started racing the pair with one of her triplet sisters, Mary, a former Creighton assistant coach. The Dobrauc duo won gold in both of their pairs races. Both still row recreationally.

Dobrauc graduated from Creighton in May of 2002, receiving her Bachelor's in Psychology. She completed master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology in 2011 at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Dobrauc works full time for Alegent Health as their Disability Management Specialist. She oversees Alegent's return-to-work and absence management programs for both occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.

Dobrauc is a member of U.S. Rowing and is a Level II certified coach. She is in charge of coordinating all alumni rowing events and communications. She works with both the varsity and novice boats, focusing primarily on coaching the novice during the fall season.
