Women's Golf Takes Sixth at SIUE Intercollegiate

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- The Creighton women finished tied for sixth at the SIUE Doubletree Intercollegiate on Tuesday.  The 36-hole, nine-team event took place at the par-72 6,023 yard Sunset Hills Country Club. Among the other participants included Nebraska Omaha, Southern Illinois and Evansville.

The Jays final score of 687 tied them with Eastern Illinois and IPFW. Southern Illinois took the top spot for the second year in a row with a 641. Southern Illinois’ Amy Lee claimed individual honors with a 154.

The Jays were led by sophomore Mary Cathryn Rau. She finished tied for 18th shooting a 170. Senior Celeste Gassman finished tied for 21st with a 171. Sophomore Rachel Thompson and freshman Grace Yowell finished tied for 32nd with scores of 174.  Sophomore Katie Morel completed the Jays top five finishing with a score of 178 and tied for 44th.

Junior Emily Alison finished tied for 38th with a 176 while competing as an individual.

It will be a short turn around for the Jays as they compete this Sunday the 30th at the Jackrabbit Fall Invitational in Sioux Falls, S.D.
