SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Creighton women's golf team finished 13th at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial golf tournament on Tuesday in Springfield, Mo. The Jays put together rounds of 336, 323 and 334 in the two-day, three-round event hosted by Missouri State University at a par-72, 6,108-yard course. The team champion was Arkansas-Little Rock.
The Bluejays were led by senior Maggie Kersenbrock. She carded rounds of 84, 75 and 81 for a 24-over-par, 56-hole total of 240, good for a 36th-place finish. The tournament's individual champion was Kelly Amundrud from Bradley.
Creighton's next-best finisher was senior Ashley Norris, who finished tied for 49th after back-to-back rounds of 80 and a final-round 86. Senior Maggy Hejlek and sophomore Celeste Gassman finished within three strokes of each other -- Hejlek (88-82-82) recorded a 252 and finished tied for 70th, while Gassman (84-86-85) shot a 255 and tied for 74th place. Rounding out the scorecard for the Jays was sophomore Jill Stuckenschneider (94-90-94-278), who finished 93rd.
This was Creighton's final tournament of the fall season. The Bluejays will be back on the course in the spring.
