PRIMM, Nev. -- The Creighton men’s golf team finished 13th at the Jackrabbit Invitational on Tuesday. The 14-team event took place during 54 holes at the Primm Valley Golf Course.
Air Force won team honors shooting a combined 828. Idaho finished second with an 841 and South Dakota State finished third with an 855. Creighton finished with a combined score of 897 just one shot behind 12th place finishers Youngstown State.
Kyle Westmoreland of Air Force finished first overall with a score of 201. Idaho’s Gordon Webb (202) and Sean McMullen (208) finished second and third, respectively.
The Jays were led by Johnny Spellerberg. The sophomore finished tied 27th shooting a 218. Daniel McKernan finished second for the Jays, the junior finished 49th with a score of 223. Steffen Lake’s 229 was enough for a 59th place finish.
Senior John Rasmussen (231 t-63) and junior Trey Turley (232 t-66) also participated in the invite.
Senior Ben Lowman (t-54th, 226) and freshman Jack Stimple (t-60th, 230) participated in the event as individuals.
The Jays get a couple weeks to prepare for the Beu Mussatto Invitational March 29-30 in Macomb, Ill.
