Men's Golf Is 15th in Arizona

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- The Creighton men’s golf team finished 15th at the Desert Shootout on Saturday. The 15-team, 54-hole tournament took place at the par-72 7,015 yard Palm Valley Country Club. Among the participants were host school Kansas State, Drake, Kansas, Northern Iowa and Nebraska.

Creighton finished with a team score of 899 (303+295+301).

BYU and UMKC tied for first with an 833. UMKC won the tournament on a one-hole playoff. Idaho finished third with an 855.

Nathan Hughes of UMKC finished first overall with a score of 200. Jared du Toit (203) of Idaho finished second and two others tied for third.

The Jays were led by Kade Brown. The freshman finished tied for 64th with a 222. Sophomore Tommy Anderson finished tied for 69th with a 224. Freshman Andrew Holloway finished two spots and one shot behind Anderson.

Senior Daniel McKernan (T-75th, 228) and junior Richard Schneider (T-88th, 240) both had strong showings.  

Sophomore Steffen Lake (T-88th, 240) participated in the event as an individual.

The Jays get a couple weeks to prepare for the ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate on April 7th in Jonesboro, Ark.
