JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Creighton men finished ninth at the Butler-hosted Benbow Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla. The 13-team field, which included Bradley and Evansville, took place at the Par-71 6,536 yard Jacksonville Beach Golf Club.
The Jays posted an overall score of 606. IUPUI finished first carding a 575, Sam Houston State finished second with a 576 and Evansville and Wisconsin-Green Bay finished tied for third with a score of 589.
Austin Miller finished tied for seventh with a 146. After being tied for 22nd after the first round with a 75, the senior shot four strokes better in round two to bolster his position. Sophomore Colin Craft posted the second best Bluejay score with a 153, which was good enough for a tie for 43rd.
Senior Kevin Stanek and sophomore Daniel McKernan finished tied for 49th with a score of 155. Like teammate Austin Miller, junior John Rassmussen also had a significantly better second round. He shot a 75 in the final round after carding an 81 in the first round. He finished tied for 58th.
Senior Jack Dressen finished fifth overall with a score of 143 while competing as an individual.
The Jays return to the links March 23-25, when they head to Goodyear, Ariz. for the 2012 Desert Shootout.
