-- The Creighton men's golf team took the top spot at the Quintero Invitational on Tuesday. The three-team, 18 player event took place at the par 72, 6,845 yard Quintero Golf and Country Club in Peoria, Ariz.
The Bluejays posted a team score of 322-314=636 to claim its first title under coach Chris Wiemers
. North Dakota State finished second with a score of 328-322=650 and Nebraska-Omaha finished third shooting 333-330=663.
The Jays were led by John Rasmussen
. The junior finished second overall shooting a 78-76=154. Rasmussen was followed by teammates senior Kevin Stanek
(77-79=156) and senior Austin Miller
(81-78=159) who finished third and fourth, respectively. Freshman Johnny Spellerberg, who competed as an individual, finished fifth overall after shooting an 82-80=162.
Sophmore Daniel McKernan
(86-81=167) finished tied for 10th and senior Jack Dressen
(89-83=172) finished 15th.
The Jays hit the links again March 12-13 in Jacksonville, Fla., at the Benbow Invitational.
