OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- The Creighton men’s golf team finished ninth at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate on Tuesday. The 11-team event took place at the par-72, 7,054 yard Milburn Golf and Country Club.
Central Arkansas took first place with scores of 277-282-284=843. Arkansas State came in second after shooting 298-291-297=886, while UMKC rounded out the top three by shooting 294-296-297=887 for the tournament.
Central Arkansas’ Pep Angles and Antonio Costa finished first and second respectively. Angles shot rounds of 67-64-71=202 while Costa shot a 65-72-70=207. Missouri State’s Daily Young had rounds of 69-81-64=214 which left him in third place.
Creighton finished with scores of 298-299-321=918.
For the third straight time this fall Kevin Stanek finished with the top score for the Jays. The senior finished the day in a five way tie for fifth. His overall score of 217 (71-71-75) is his second best of the fall. Fellow senior Austin Miller and junior John Rasmussen finished tied for 46th. Miller shot rounds of 75-76-82=233 while Rasmussen had rounds of 73-77-83=233.
Sophomores Collin Craft (79-75-81=235) and Trey Turley (81-80-85=246) also competed in the meet.
Freshman Johnny Spellerberg (78-68-76=222), who finished tied for 16th overall, competed as an individual.
The Jay hit the links again on Oct. 30-Nov. 1 at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate in Kiawah Island, S.C.
