NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. -- The Creighton men's golf team finished third at the 12-team Fairway Club Invitational Tuesday in Nebraska City, Neb. The two-day event was hosted by the University of Nebraska, who took top team honors, and conducted on the par-72, 7,158-yard ArborLinks Golf Course.
The Jays had three top 15 finishers. Senior Kevin Stanek was the top golfer for the Jays finishing ninth overall. After two rounds Stanek was 23rd with rounds of 81 and 73, but he shot a four-under 68 in the third round to jump to his final position. Senior Austin Miller was not far behind finishing tied for 10th with rounds of 76-70-77 (223). Senior Jack Dressen finished tied for 14th (80-71-74=225).
Junior John Rasmussen (77-79-81=237) and sophomore Daniel McKernan (82-83-77=242) also were entered into the team event. Sophomore Collin Craft, who finished 20th overall, and senior Ryan Herter, who posted a third round score of 79, both entered as individuals.
The Jays hit the links again on Oct. 3-4 at the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate in Manhattan, Kan.
