PEORIA, Ariz. -- The Creighton men's golf team tied for second place at the spring-opening Quintero Invitational in Peoria, Ariz. on Tuesday. The Jays and North Dakota State both recorded scores of 954 to finish as runners up to Drake. Creighton carded team rounds of 320, 313 and 321 in the two-day, three-round event at the Par 72, 6,845-yard Quintero Golf and Country Club.
The top Bluejay finisher was sophomore John Rasmussen. He finished in fifth place after rounds of 78, 82 and 73 for a 17-over-par, 233 total. Just behind Rasmussen in seventh place was Creighton junior Austin Miller, who shot rounds of 78, 79 and 81.
Creighton's next-best finisher was junior Ben Lowman, who tied for 10th place with a three-round total of 243 after rounds of 84, 76 and 83. Juniors Jack Dressen and Kevin Stanek both tied for 12th for the Jays to round out the team score. They shot identical rounds of 82, 79 and 84 for a 245 total.
Creighton freshman Collin Craft competed in the event as an individual. He carded rounds of 81, 79 and 79 for a 239 total, good for an eighth-place finish.
The Jays are back in action March 13-15 at the North/South Collegiate in Jacksonville, Fla.
