NORMAL, Ill. -- The Creighton men's golf team finished 12th at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate in Normal, Ill., on Sunday. The Jays fired rounds of 315, 320 and 305 in the two-day, three-round event held at the par-71, 6,915-yard Weibring Golf Club. Their three-round total of 940 was only two strokes behind host Illinois State, which finished 11th. Illinois won the team title by shooting an 875.
The Jays were led by their fourth different golfer in five events this year. Junior Jack Dressen put together rounds of 80, 77 and 74 for an 18-over-par 231 54-hole total, which was good for a tie for 30th place against a strong field. Chris DeForest from Illinois won the event with a 216.
Creighton's next-best finishers were juniors Austin Miller (72-82-83-231) and Ben Lowman (81-80-76-237), who both tied for 51st. The Jays were rounded out by freshman Collin Craft (82-81-75-238), who tied for 60th, and sophomore John Rasmussen(86-82-80-248), who finished 87th.
The Jays are back on the course Oct. 18 and 19 at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate in Kansas City, Mo., the team's final event of the fall season.
