OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's golf team will host a rare home dual when in-state rival Nebraska battles the Bluejays on Wednesday. The 36-hole competition will begin at 8 am and take place at Omaha Country Club (6900 Country Club Road in Omaha).
Admission is free.
Creighton returns nearly its entire line-up from last season's squad that finished seventh in the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championships.
Austin Miller, who led CU with a 77.0 strokes per round average last year, returns for his junior year along with sophomore John Rasmussen (77.1). Rasmussen finished seventh overall at the conference meet. Also returning from CU's club that competed at the conference championship is senior Patrick Shanahan (79.7) and junior Ryan Herter (81.2).
Nebraska tied for seventh at last year's Big 12 Conference meet, but return all but top scorer Brandon Crick (72.23) from that team. Seniors Andrew Wyatt (73.65), Mike Coatman (74.89) and junior Scott Willman (74.68) pace the Husker returners.
Creighton is coached by second-year coach Chris Wiemers, while Nebraska coach Bill Spangler enters his 10th season.
