Norman was an all-around athlete for the Roughriders, earning letters in baseball (four), basketball (three) and football (one).
Sam returned to the mound as a senior, posting a 2-1 record for Roosevelt, allowing six earned runs in 17.1 innings (3.12 ERA) as he appeared in six games, including five starts.
At the dish in 2012, Norman closed his high school career with a .317 average, with a combined 19 extra-base hits (15 doubles, 1 triple, and three home runs).
The southpaw didn’t pitch in his junior season due to an injury, but still earned Second Team All-State honors at first base after finishing the season with a .398 batting average, 16 doubles and just one strikeout.
Sam earned Second Team All-Iowa following both his junior and senior seasons.
He also earned first team all-area in baseball and basketball as well as First Team All-Central Iowa Metropolitan League in both sports in 2011 & 2012.
Sam was in contention for the ESPN Player of the Year in Iowa as a senior.
A recipient of the Creighton Presidental Scholarship, Norman is also a member of the National Honor Society.
