EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Junior Brittney Neumann scored two goals in the first 16 minutes of play Saturday night and those scores stood as she helped the Creighton women's soccer team to a 2-1 Missouri Valley Conference road win at Evansville.  The fifth multiple-goal match of Neumann's career was also her second two-goal match in CU's last four contests.

The Bluejays are now 2-0-0 in MVC play and 6-4-1 overall, moving their unbeaten streak to four matches.  The match served as Evansville's conference opener, as they fell to 1-8-4 on the season.

Neumann converted her first scoring chance of the night, finding the back of the net on the game's first shot.  She took a feed from Beth Fyles and beat UE keeper Chaviel Harrison for her first goal of the night.

After Bluejay goalkeeper Alicia Montgomery saved a pair of Evansville shots, Neumann remained efficient, scoring on her second shot of the night.  Her goal in the 16th minute was assisted by Gabriela Guillen.  The goal was Neumann's team-leading sixth of the season, as she now accounts for over half of CU's goals on the year.

Creighton took that 2-0 lead into halftime, with Montgomery credited with five assists through 45 minutes.

"We started off really well as our attack came alive," said head coach Bruce Erickson after the win.  "Once we got up two-nil, we took our foot off the gas and became complacent.  We started to play again once we conceded the goal and I was happy with how we grinded out the win."

The Purple Aces got on the board in the 55th minute, when Kristen Davis scored her second goal of the year to cut CU's lead in half.

The Bluejays held off the Aces for the final 35 minutes and captured an always difficult conference road victory, winning their fifth straight meeting with the Aces.  Montgomery finished with seven saves in goal for the Bluejays.

Creighton opens a three-game home stand on Wednesday night when it plays host to Wright State in a non-conference match at Morrison Stadium.
