OMAHA, Neb. - In the Bluejays finale home exhibition contest of 2013, the Creighton women's soccer team fell to Arkansas, 3-2, on Wednesday, Aug. 14.
Playing three 30-minute periods, the Jays fell behind Arkansas 3-0 in the opening period. The Razorback took the lead on a goal from Ashleigh Ellenwood in the seventh minute. Ellenwood bounced a shot off a Bluejay defender in the seventh minute.
Arkansas pushed its lead to 3-0 on consecutive goals by Yvonne DesJarlais in the 18th and 26th minutes. Both of DesJarlais' goals were unassisted.
The score remained 3-0 through a scoreless second period, but sophomore Kirstyn Corder got Creighton on the board in the second minute (62nd overall) of the third period as she collected a deflected shot and fired it past Arkansas keeper, Taylor Erwin, to make it 3-1.
Bluejay senior Lauren Cingoranelli pulled Creighton within one in the 79th minute as she nabbed a shot off Erwin, then fired it into the net from 15 yards away.
Creighton wraps up its exhibition season on Saturday, August 17th with a neutral site contest in Rosemount, Minn. against North Dakota State at 1 p.m.
