OMAHA, Neb. - The Creighton women's soccer program announced its 2013 schedule, featuring home games with new Big East foes Marquette, DePaul, Butler and Xavier.
The Bluejays will face three teams that reached the NCAA Tournament in 2012, Utah State, Georgetown and Marquette. The Golden Eagles advanced to the round of 16, before falling to BYU. Creighton hosts 12 home games, 10 regular-season and two exhibition contests.
The Jays exhibition season begins on Saturday, Aug. 10 in Morrison Stadium with the Blue vs. White scrimmage, then face off with Arkansas on Aug. 14 at 7 p.m.. The Jays final exhibition game will be against face North Dakota State in a neutral site match in Rosemont, Minn. on Aug. 17.
The 2013 regular season begins with road matches at Utah State (Aug. 23) and Boise State (Aug. 25), then Creighton begins a three-game home stretch against North Dakota (Aug. 30), Northern Colorado (Sept. 1) and Idado (Sept. 8).
A quick road trip to UMKC (Sept. 10) seperates another four-game home stretch against South Dakota (Sept. 13), Montana (Sept. 15), Omaha (Sept. 20) and Creighton Big East opener with Marquette on Sept. 26.
The Jays will face a tough patch as Creighton plays five of the following six matches on the road. Traveling to St. John's (Sept. 29), Providence (Oct. 3), Seton Hall (Oct. 6), Villanova (Oct. 17) and Georgetown (Oct. 20).
The lone home match during that stretch will be against DePaul (Oct. 12). Creighton closes its 2013 regular season back in the confines of Morrison Stadium with Butler (Oct. 26) and Xavier (Nov. 2).
Creighton's first foray into Big East Tournament action would come from Nov. 5-10 as quarterfinal play will be held at campus sites on Tuesday, Nov. 5 and the championships on Friday and Sunday, Nov. 8-10 at Marquette.
