Creighton vs. Drake:
Drake leads the all-time series with the Bluejays, 37-22, including the last four meetings. Drake had won the last three meetings entering the MVC Championship game last season, but the Jays claimed the 2012 crown with a 53-38 win.

Last Time vs. Drake: W, 53-38 @ MVC Tournament (3-11-12)
Creighton knocked off Drake 53-38 in the championship game of the 2012 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament to claim the second tournament title in school history.  Tournament MVP Carli Tritz led the Bluejays with 19 points and McKenzie Fujan tied her career-high with 12 points in the victory as the Jays advance dto their first NCAA Tournament in 10 years with the win.

Tritz scored 15 points in the second half after scoring 27 second-half points in the semifinals to earn tournament MVP honors.  Sarah Nelson scored 12 points, including a pair of first-half three-pointers and joined Tritz on the all-tournament team.

Creighton scored the final four points of the first half to go ahead 20-16 and then opened the second half on a 17-6 run which featured 14 unanswered points as the Bulldogs appeared to tire, playing their fourth game in four days.  Fujan keyed the second half run, as the sophomore scored the first 11 points of the half for the Jays.  Fujan hit a career-high three three-point field goals in a three-minute span to start the second half as she equalled her career-high with 12 points.  Nelson hit 4-of-8 shots, made 2-of-3 three-pointers and both of her free throw attempts to finish with 12 points, four rebounds, three assists and two blocks.

About Drake
•  Located in Des Moines, Ill., Drake has an enrollment of 5,348.
•  The Bulldogs finished 2011-12 with a 18-16 record and a 9-9 mark in the Valley.  Bradley returned seven letterwinners from last season, including starters Carly Grenfell, Kyndal Clark and Morgan Reid.
•  Drake was picked to finish ninth in the MVC preseason poll.

Scouting the Bulldogs (7-12, 2-6 MVC)
Drake enters the matchup with Creighton on a two game winning streak, claiming back-to-back victories over Bradley (66-62) on Jan. 25 and Northern Iowa (63-55) on Jan. 27.  It was the Bulldogs first two victories in MVC play.

Despite returning three of five starters from last season, the Bulldogs have struggled adjusting to new head Jennie Baranczyk’s system.  Sophomore guard Kyndal Clark and junior Morgan have excelled, leading the team with 14.4 ppg and 11.0 ppg respectively.  Clark, however, has been turnover prone, committing a team-high 56.

As a unit the Bulldogs have committed 328 turnovers in 19 contests (17.3 per game) and have equally struggled from the foul line, shooting just 68% (255-374).

Three-Ball on the Way, BANG!
With 181 three-pointers in 19 games (9.52 per game) the Bluejays are the NCAA Division I leader in three-pointers made per game.  Creighton is on pace to finish the season with 285 triples in 30 games, eclipsing the current program record of 260 in 2003-04. That team played 33 contests, averaging 7.88 treys per game.

Florida Gulf Coast sits in second place with 193 three-pointers in 21 games (9.19), while Missouri is in third (191 in 21 games for 9.09).

Approaching the MVC Midway Point
With a win at Drake on Saturday, Creighton would finish the first half of MVC at 8-1 for just the third time under head coach Jim Flanery.  The Bluejays accomplished the feat in 2003-04 and again in 2004-05.

For three, for THREE, FOR THREE
Creighton finished 14-of-26 (.538) from beyond the arc in their win against Bradley on Jan. 27.  It was the fourth MVC game that the Jays knocked down at least 10 three-point field goals. Overall Creighton has hit 11 treys or more in eight games this season.  Creighton is 7-1 in those contests, the only loss coming at Minnesota.

Three-point Ninja
Sophomore Sammy Jensen has grown into a deadly weapon for the Jays from beyond the arc.  The Iowa native is 12-of-26 (.462) from three-point land, including 9-of-13 (.692) in conference play.  Defining the term “three-point specialist”, Sammy is just 1-for-1 inside the arc this season and 1-for-2 in her career.

Road Warriors
Nine of the Bluejays 15 wins this season have come away from home.  Creighton is presently 6-2 in true road games and 3-0 in neutral site contests. The biggest difference has been the Jays scoring offense away from home.  In seven contests in D.J. Sokol Arena, Creighton is averaging 58.9 points, away from their home arena the Jays are putting up 79.4 ppg in 11 contests.
