Catch the NCAA Tournament on ESPN2 The NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament will be carried on ESPN2. Bob Wischusen (play-by-play) and Nell Fortner (color analyst) will call all the action. Creighton’s game will be the early contest (10:20 a.m.) on March 23, followed by Tennessee vs. Oral Roberts.

Outgoing vs Incoming The Creighton vs. Syracuse matchup presented a new twist on Wednesday, March 20 when the Jays announced the school would join the Big East Conference effective July 1, 2013. Syracuse will be moving from the Big East to the ACC on the same day.
Jays claim first NCAA At-Large Berth Since 1994 Creighton earned the second at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament in program history, snagging a No. 10 seed in the Oklahoma City Region. The Jays enter the NCAA Tournament with a 24-7 record this season, tied for the second-highest win total in program history. Creighton last appeared in the NCAA Tournament last season, just missing an upset of No. 3 St. John’s in Norman, Okla. (69-67). Creighton previously made NCAA tournament appearances in 2002, 1994 and 1992.
In the NCAA Tournament Creighton is 2-4 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, having picked up a win in each of its first two appearances.
Jays Against 2013 Tournament Field Creighton is 3-3 against fellow NCAA Tournament teams, holding victories over Nebraska, South Florida and Wichita State. The Jays losses came to Kansas, Oklahoma and Wichita State.
Once Was Nice, But Back-to-Back is Better For the first time in Creighton history, the Bluejays will be making consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament. Head coach Jim Flanery has been a Bluejay for every NCAA appearance, serving as an assistant coach in 1992, 1994 and 2002.
Trending Up Creighton has advanced to its sixth consecutive postseason after appearing in the NCAA Tournament last season and the WNIT in each of the preceding four seasons.
Trending Up - Part II The Bluejays enter the NCAA Tournament having won eight of their last nine games.
Similar Company Syracuse and Creighton shared one common opponent this season as both teams faced South Florida. Creighton bested the Bulls (91-74) in a neutral site contest in Cancun, Mexico on Dec. 22. Syracuse meanwhile dropped a 68-66 decision at South Florida on Feb. 23.
Dominant Defensive Showing Creighton limited Southern Illinois to just nine first half points in the MVC quarterfinal on Friday, March 15. It marked the first time since at least 1998 that the Jays held an opponent to single digits in a half. Prior to that performance, Creighton lowest point total in a half was 13 points for Drake on Dec. 31, 2011.
Scouting Syracuse (24-7) The Orange opened the season with 15 victories in their first 16 games, including their first three in the Big East. Syracuse, however, dropped four of their final six contests. Among the losses down the stretch, the Orange fell at South Florida, 68-66.
Syracuse is led by senior Kayla Alexander, who is averaging 17.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game this season. The 6-4 center will provide a major inside test for Creighton’s Alyssa Kamphaus and Sarah Nelson.
The Orange also can hit from outside, draining 193 three-point shots this season. Freshman Brianna Butler leads Syracuse with 52 long range bombs.
