Adrian Dowell joined the Creighton University staff in May of 2014 as the Assistant Athletic Director and Senior Director for Development. In his role, Dowell oversees all fundraising efforts for the athletic department which includes endowments, capital projects, annual and planned giving. He serves as the primary liaison between the athletic department and the university’s development office.
Prior to Creighton, Dowell worked at West Virginia University on the Mountaineer Athletic Club staff—the fundraising organization for WVU Athletics. He was on staff at WVU for five years and served his last three as the Major Gifts Officer. As a member of the Mountaineer Athletic Club staff, he was a part of a team that raised over $106 million and he helped with the completion of a number of projects by securing major gifts for the Basketball Practice Facility, Football Weight Room, Football Team Auditorium, Women’s Soccer Practice Facility and the Athletic Endowment Fund.
Before his time at WVU, Dowell worked at the NCAA National Office in Indianapolis. There, he was a member of the Division I Men’s Basketball staff which is responsible for the administration of the NCAA Basketball Tournament (March Madness) and the Final Four.
In 2008, Dowell earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health & Human Performance—Sport Management from Roanoke College where he was a student-athlete on the men’s basketball team. He also received a MBA and a Master’s degree in Sport Administration from West Virginia University in 2011.
A native of Salem, Virginia, Dowell currently resides in Omaha with his wife Stephanie and his daughter Lauren Grace.
