Creighton center Gregory Echenique is trying out for the Venezuelan National Team. While he's away, we'll have periodic updates on GoCreighton.com in a segment we're calling "The Big E Diareee", thanks to a Facebook contest suggestion from Tyler Anderson.
Below is his third entry.
Today we had practices #17 and #18 . And the first cut was made, as a forward and a post player were sent home. Practices were very competitive and the team seems to understand the offense a lot better. All the plays we have are sinking in.
The language barrier between the coaches and players seems like less of an excuse for some at this point since we are getting used to doing what coach wants. We are still having the same schedule with a practice at 9:30 am, then lunch, then like a 3 hour break, and then practice at night.
Tomorrow is the last of the 2-a-days this week. Thursday we have a light practice! Friday a shootaround and we play Japan at night time on arena called "Parque Miranda". We haven't talked about Japan at all yet, but we know they have been training for months so we are expecting a very organized team.
Personally I'm still pushing through practices and fatigue, knowing it is just getting me in better shape. But it seems like I have been in this training camp way longer that what it has been.
