Creighton center Gregory Echenique is trying out for the Venezuelan National Team. While he's away, we'll have periodic updates on GoCreighton.com in a segment we're calling "The Big E Diareee", thanks to a Facebook contest suggestion from Tyler Anderson.
Below is his second entry.
Today we had practices #7 and #8, and I must say the team looks better every time we get on the court. We seem to understand what the coach wants and we do it.
Greivis Vásquez is our NBA player on the team. He has brought a lot of energy to practice. He talks a lot and he is very emotional, almost to the point that if you don't know him you could think he is crazy. But I'm getting used to playing with him. He has great court vision and sometimes will throw passes you don't think were possible. But still offensively is hard to get hot because a lot of times I make my moves and I have three guys fouling me, which seems to be something that chases me everywhere I go. But it will be good once game time comes.
I also think I'm becoming a better team defender. I am talking more and being more vocal which is something I wasn't last year.
Tomorrow we will have two more practices, and in a week we will play Japan here at home. We are getting close to game time.
