OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men’s basketball team finished the 2010-11 season ranked 22nd nationally in average home attendance, according to final numbers published yesterday by the NCAA. This marks the sixth straight season the Bluejays have ranked among the nation’s top-25.

Creighton hosted 297,161 fans in 22 home games during the recently-completed 2010-11 campaign, good for an average of 13,507 fans per game. Prior to hosting four College Basketball Invitational games, Creighton was averaging 15,026 fans, a figure that would have placed the Bluejays 14th nationally. Creighton played in front of 428,354 fans overall (home/road/neutral) in 2010-11, a figure that ranked 25th nationally.

This was the eighth straight season that Creighton has led the Missouri Valley Conference in men’s basketball attendance, which coincides with the program’s move into Qwest Center Omaha for the 2003-04 campaign. Creighton has attracted 1,944,718 fans during 137 all-time games at Qwest Center Omaha, an average of 14,195 patrons per contest in that time.

Creighton outdrew three of the teams to make the Final Four for the third straight season, trailing only Kentucky this past season. Incredibly, Creighton's total home attendance of 297,161 was more than the combined total of NCAA finalists Connecticut and Butler (297,157).

Kentucky led the country in attendance for the sixth straight season with 23,603 fans per game, while the Big Ten led all leagues with an average of 12,826 fans per game league-wide. The Missouri Valley Conference ranked eighth-highest nationally with an average of 7,187 fans per game, including five teams in the top-100.
