Browning, McNary and Sicner Nab All-BIG EAST Honors

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Creighton Volleyball juniors Kelli Browning, Leah McNary and Michelle Sicner were each selected to the All-BIG EAST teams, announced on Wednesday, Nov. 27.

Browning and McNary were selected to the 12-person All-BIG EAST First Team, while Sicner was named to the 12-person All-BIG EAST Second Team.

Marquette, the BIG EAST regular-season volleyball champion, captured three of the four conference individual awards, the league announced.  Senior setter Elizabeth Koberstein was named BIG EAST Player of the Year, freshman outside hitter Autumn Bailey was selected BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and the Marquette coaches were named BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year.  Alyssa Warren of Seton Hall was named BIG EAST Libero of the Year.

The winners were chosen by a vote of the league’s head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own players.

McNary is a first-team pick for the first time after being a Second-Team All-MVC choice a year ago. McNary leads Creighton in kills and is ninth in the BIG EAST in that category.

Sicner leads Creighton with 14 double-doubles and three triple-doubles. She was named AVCA National Player of the Week on Oct. 15, and in league play ranked third in hitting percentage and seventh in assists per set.

The awards were announced prior to the BIG EAST Championship which will be held Nov. 29-30 on the Creighton campus.  Four teams will participate in the tournament beginnign on Friday.  No. 1 seed Marquette will meet No. 4 seed Butler at 4 pm.  No. 2 seed Creighton will battle No. 3 seed Xavier at 6:30 pm.
