Volleyball's Bober & Boggs Land Academic All-District Accolades
OMAHA, Neb. -- Two seniors with the nationally-ranked Creighton Volleyball program have been honored for their work in the classroom as well. The Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 Team was announced today, with Megan Bober on the first team and Brooke Boggs a second-team selection.
District VII covers Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, South Dakota, North Dakota, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Missouri. With her first-team recognition, Bober advances to the national ballot for prestigious Academic All-America accolades, something only Emily Greisch (2006, third team) has been bestowed in Creighton Volleyball history.
A senior from Murdock, Neb., Bober joins Abby Baumann (2006, 07) and Melissa Walsh (1999, 2000) as the only two-time honorees in program history to be named to the Academic All-District 7 First Team. A six-time MVC Player of the Week, five-time MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week and two-time First-Team All-MVC selection, Bober owns a 3.82 GPA in Exercise Science.
Boggs is a senior defensive specialist from Wildwood, Mo., who was previously a third-team academic all-district pick in 2010. Earlier in the week she was honored with the MVC Leadership & Service Award, and last year she was an honorable-mention pick on the 2011 MVC Scholar-Athlete Team. Boggs owns a 3.91 GPA in Health Administration and Policy.
Creighton (22-3, 13-1 MVC) hosts Indiana State on Friday at 5 pm at D.J. Sokol Arena. Bober and Boggs are among six women being honored following Saturday's final home match vs. Illinois State, scheduled for a 6 pm first serve as part of Senior Night festivities.
