Mike Murakami came to Creighton in the fall of 2012 in the role of Assistant Director of Ticket Operations. Murakami quickly earned a promotion to Associate Director of Ticket Operations, becoming effective in October of 2014.
Specifically adept in social media marketing, Murakami has taken the lead as the liasion in that area for all sports. He designs banners and website content for each of the Bluejays' tier one sports (Baseball, Men's & Women's Basketball, Men's & Women's Soccer as well as Softball).
Murakami created and manages the Creighton Athletic Ticketing Twitter account (@CreightonTix), created the “Band of Bluejays” marketing theme used by the Creighton University Alumni Office and Athletic Department for the Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams during the 2014 BIG EAST Conference Tournament and NCAA Tournament and created and manages the Creighton Fan Central Twitter account (@BandOfBluejays).
He is primarily responsible for the day-to-day finances including the processing and allocation of over eight million dollars annually in season ticket and donation revenue as well as being responsible for overseeing box office operations during Creighton University Athletics home games. Additionally, Murakami manages season ticket information requests.
Before coming to Creighton, Murakami was a Client Service Represenative for Sport Ngin in Minneapolis, Minn. from 2011-12.
Murakami earned his BA from St. John's University in Collegeville, Minn. in 2010, majoring in communication with a minor in English Writing. As a student at St. John's, Murakami was a member of the St. John's lacrosse team.
An avid lacrosse fan, Murakami also serves as a coach for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln club team as well as the Creighton Prep Varsity team in Omaha.
