CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Senior Karisa Almgren represented Creighton on the All-Tournament Team at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Volleyball Tournament, which concluded on Saturday night.
Almgren, a senior from Edmond, Okla., led the Bluejay offense with 13 kills and a .393 attack percentage in Thursday's 3-1 loss to Illinois State. She also added two digs and a block in the contest.
Though no stranger to honors for her academic and community service work, it's the first career award for Almgren for her on-court performance.
UNI's Bre Payton was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player after leading the Panthers to a third consecutive title. The Panthers swept third-seeded Wichita State in the final (25-23, 29-27, 25-20) on Saturday for the program's 15th all-time title, and 10th in 14 years.
Payton was joined on the All-Tournament squad by teammates Amy Braun and Krista DeGeest, Wichita State's Mary Elizabeth Hooper and Emily Adney, Illinois State's Kristin Stauter, Missouri State's Kelley Michnowicz, Indiana State's Shea Doran and Almgren.
