OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton University freshman Megan Bober has been named the State Farm MVC Freshman of the Week. This is Bober’s second straight honor and fourth overall this fall, having also collected the honor on Oct. 5th, Oct. 19th and Nov. 16th.

Bober averaged 10.57 assists, 3.14 digs, 1.29 blocks and 1.14 kills per set in two matches last weekend. Additionally, she became the first CU setter ever to record 100 blocks in a season.

Bober opened her week with 41 assists, 14 digs, six blocks and five kills in CU's four-set loss at No. 21 Northern Iowa on Friday. Bober also moved over the 1,000 assist mark on the season on Friday.

One night later, Bober had 33 assists, eight digs, three blocks and three kills as CU hit .349 and had just six attack errors as a team.

Fourth-seeded Creighton (13-16) returns to action on Thursday at 8 pm when it hosts fifth-seeded Drake in the second quarterfinal of the 2009 State Farm MVC Tournament in Omaha, Neb. The first quarterfinal will begin at 6 pm and feature third-seeded Wichita State against sixth-seeded Southern Illinois.
