HOOVER, Ala. - Creighton men's soccer senior forward Ethan Finlay was named one of three finalists for the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy award on Friday.  The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual honor in college soccer.  The finalists were determined in voting by Division I men's head coaches at institutions who are members of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Finlay earlier this week was named a semifinalist for the award for the second consecutive season after guiding the Bluejays to the College Cup for the first time since 2002.  The NSCAA First-Team All-American leads the team and Missouri Valley Conference with 14 goals and 34 points this season.  The only two-time MVC Player of the Year in school history, he ranks 12th in the NCAA with 34 points and 13th in the country with 14 goals scored.

He has led the 21-2-0 Bluejays into their fourth College Cup appearance, scoring the game-winning goal in overtime in the quarterfinals to keep CU's season alive.  In his career, the Marshfield, Wis., native has scored 43 goals and has 103 points, both ranking in the top-10 in school and league history.

North Carolina's Billy Schuler and Duke's Andrew Wenger are the other two finalists for the award.  The trio will be invited to the Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis on Friday, Jan. 6, for a news conference, where the winner of the award will be revealed.  A banquet at the club that evening will feature a formal presentation of the prestigious crystal soccer ball trophy to the winner.

Finlay will look to join current assistant coach Johnny Torres as the only Hermann Trophy winner in school history.  Torres won the honor in 1997.
