Scouting the Pirates (32-9, 6-3 BIG EAST)
After dropping two of its first three games in 2014, Seton Hall went on to enter BIG EAST play with a 20-5 record.

As the Pirates did in the opening weekend of the year, Seton Hall dropped two of its first three in conference play, falling twice at Butler.  Since that time the Pirates took two of three at Georgetown and swept Villanova to come to Omaha at 6-3 in BIG EAST play.

Seton Hall’s strength is its starting pitching.  Josh Prevost gets the call in the series opener on Friday, he boasts a 1.48 ERA in 11 starts.  Prevost is 9-1 on the season, tossing 85.0 innings and recording 91 strikeouts. Luke Cahill is not far behind his teammate, with a 2.39 ERA and an 8-1 record in 11 appearances.

At the plate the Pirates are hitting .315 as a team, led by D.J. Ruhlman’s .397.  Seton Hall likes to run, posting 97 stolen bases on the season.  The Pirates’ numbers drop to .279 as a team in BIG EAST play, but Ruhlman is hitting .471 (16-of-34).

Friday Night Lights Out
Friday’s pitching matchup between Seton Hall’s Josh Prevost and Creighton’s Matt Warren is sure to take center stage.  Prevost leads the BIG EAST with a 1.48 ERA on the season, while Warren is second at 1.67.  In conference play, however, Warren has a 0.39 ERA, allowing just one run in 23.0 innings.

Saturday is Creighton’s Annual  “Salute to our Militaty Community & First Respnders Night”
Creighton Athletics will host its annual “Salute To Our Military Community & First Responders Night” this Saturday at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha when the Bluejays host the Seton Hall Pirates in BIG EAST Conference play (6:30 p.m., first-pitch).

All military personnel, first responders and their families will be honored throughout the evening.  A crowd of over 15,000 is expected and events include the pre-game Families of the Fallen Honor and Remember Walk, paratroopers, presentation of the
colors on horseback, the singing of the
National Anthem by Jimmy Weber and a first-pitch flyover.

During the seventh inning stretch, JaCee Pilkington, Miss Nebraska 2013, will sing God Bless America.  Post-game events will include a video tribute to recognize the Fallen from Western Iowa and Nebraska followed by a fireworks show courtesy of Bellino Fireworks.

Home Has Been Kind to Bluejays
Creighton will look to extend its stellar play in conference action as the Bluejays are 6-0 in BIG EAST play at home in 2014.  The last time Creighton lost a conference series at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha (TDAPO) was in 2012 when Wichita State took two of three from the Bluejays (May 17-19).

Fowler and Peter Have Owned TDAPO
One reason the Bluejays have fared so well at TDAPO in BIG EAST play has been the performance of sophomore Reagan Fowler and junior Jake Peter at the dish.  In six games Fowler is hitting .700 (14-for-20) with 11 RBI, while Peter is 9-for-22 (.409).
