Creighton Soccer will host the eighth annual “Kicks For A Cure” presented by First National Bank on Saturday at the Rev. Michael G. Morrison, S.J., Stadium on campus (19th & California Streets).
The event, which features high school and collegiate soccer teams competing to raise money and awareness in the fight against cancer, includes four matches (schedule below) with free admission and donations accepted at all of the venue entrances throughout the day.
All of the proceeds of the event – which has raised nearly $1.15 million ($1,147,000) in its first seven years - will benefit Liz’s Legacy, the fund started by the Karnes family in memory of the late Dr. Liz Karnes. Funds will be directed toward research projects at both the UNMC Eppley Cancer Center and the Creighton Hereditary Cancer Center. At the event’s banquet tomorrow night,
Creighton Athletics will be honored with an Inspiration Award with CU Director of Athletics Bruce Rasmussen accepting on the department’s behalf.
