Castagnini capped a stellar career at Barton by earning National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-America Honorable Mention in 2012.
Federico started all 59 games in 2012, leading the Cougars in home runs (6), doubles (16) and RBI (67) as a sophomore. He finished the season with a .361 average, collecting 75 hits and swiping 12 bases in 12 attempts. He also was second on the squad with 61 runs scored and four triples.
As a freshman, Castagnini started 55 games. He closed the season with a .294 average on 59 hits in 201 at-bats. The infielder collected 10 doubles, two homers, 41 RBI and was 16-of-20 on stolen bases.
Federico also earned first team all-conference in 2012.
2007-10 (Skyline High School)
A three-year letter winner, Castagnini led Skyline HS to a combined
mark of 47-20.
Federico was a standout player for the Falcons, posting a .507 average and a .565 on-base percentage as a senior.
Castagnini delivered 37 hits, 34 runs scored, 19 RBI and a .978 fielding percentage in 2010.
